Websites that make you feel chemistry
I’m inspired by the potential of the internet to empower people to learn anything they need to, anywhere in the world. My background is in chemistry education but now I’m cultivating the skills I need to build responsive websites with sparkling content. I’m keen to gain professional experience with the long term ambition to launch my own chemistry course online.
Hi, my name is Tamsin. My interest in web development began with the ambition to build my own app to teach chemistry. My passion for chemistry began at school and blossomed through a bachelors degree and a teaching career. Those stem skills have proven invaluable in my journey to learn coding. Turns out that scrutinising technical information to ensure that vital details are expressed correctly is a home from home for me.
Since I signed up for the Codecademy Full Stack Engineering course, I’ve already set my newfound skills to work crafting a prototype for my chemistry app. I’ve also taken on two paid commissions: one for the debut publication of a children’s book author, another showcasing the talents of an artisan who creates frames
Now I’m looking to gain professional experience to take my skills to the next level.

This is a living prototype for my chemistry app. Users can click test tubes to simulate the changes they would witness in the laboratory, such as colour changes or bubbles of gas. Next they can read through explanatory text, answer questions and then receive feedback. The app was created using React-Redux with Bootstrap for styling. The code features components which automatically render content from data stored in javascript objects.
